Communication

I am trying to find ways to keeping everyone updated but without all the redundancy that there is with all the different Social Network (ie. MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, Wink, Reunion, Classmates, Plaxo) and to keep up with Blogging / Reading Lists / Cool Sites / Goals / Communicating status to get support from accountability partners - out on the web.

Here is my approach:
  • MySpace - Not really my thing - too much Advertising and too much spam.
  • Facebook - A good Social Network for Adults. I will use it for my friends.
  • LinkedIn - A very good Business Network and ideal way to keep up with past co-workers / business partners. Additionally a better way to keep up with job experiences.
  • Plaxo - A very good way of staying current on everyones contact information and integrates with LinkedIn. Not so much a fan of the Plaxo Pulse cause at this time it is not a Player in the Social Network like MySpace or Facebook - therefore it creates redundancy of information input.
  • Google Blogging - I like it because I use Google Reader and they are integrated together. I am still learning all of the features and think the combination of the Blogger / Reader and maybe even Google Bookmarks will make it a great tool to share with all my friends.
If you have any ideas or comments let me know...

Just use Spokeo: http://www.spokeo.com It automatically finds all your friends across these social networks, and it will update you the changes. It's basically your Google Reader for friends.

Good point Dennis. I use Facebook for the personal fun. LinkedIn to review job applicants and Xeequa for business (it's still beta) but it allows me to actually share opportunities and projects with my network. Plaxo turned me totally off - I hat getting every other day an email that I should check an update - how yesterday.

My 2 cents

I am still checking out www.spokeo.com - but at first glance it looks pretty cool. I will update more about it after I have had a better opportunity to evaluate it.
